Looking Forward: Remote Sensing as Dataware for Human Settlement Simulation

چکیده

As a field, urban simulation has had an interesting history in recent decades. There was a span of time in the late-1960s and the 1970s when there was a comparative surge in the use of simulation in planning and policy-making. That period was followed by a long ‘winter’, in which planners and policy-makers turned away from urban simulation as a planning support tool. Nevertheless, there has been a recent rejuvenated interest in simulating human settlements, catalyzed in large part by developments in the field. In particular, an abundance of high-quality geographic information resources has facilitated the development of models of human settlements with hitherto unfathomed flexibility, functionality, and resolution. Remote sensing has been at the forefront of this ‘dataware revolution’. Yet, research in this area is in early stages, and much of its potential remains to be realized.

Introducing Satellite Remote Sensing Systems and its Application in Archaeology Case Study: Behshahr Plain- Mazandaran

Human groups have considered the Behshahr plain of Mazandaran in the past Due to its particular geographical shape, location between the Caspian Sea and mountains, and the existence of some rivers in the region. However, our knowledge of this area is limited to several published surveys and archaeological investigation of its ancient sites. No detailed research has conducted on the formation of...

Forest Fire Potential Modeling and Simulation of its Extension Using Remote Sensing Data and GIS: (A Protected Area of Arasbaran)

Forest fire models are generally used in different aspects of fire management and are helpful in understanding and prediction of fire behavior. Forest fires cause a significant damage for public property by destroying a large tract of forest.  This helps fire fighters to focus on an area with greater risk and to develop better substructure for fire fighter training and ultimately to plan fire-f...

Multi-Channel Deconvolution for Forward-Looking Phase Array Radar Imaging

Abstract: The cross-range resolution of forward-looking phase array radar (PAR) is limited by the effective antenna beamwidth since the azimuth echo is the convolution of antenna pattern and targets’ backscattering coefficients. Therefore, deconvolution algorithms are proposed to improve the imaging resolution under the limited antenna beamwidth. However, as a typical inverse problem, deconvolu...
